Piper gets a check-up

Less than two-years-old, my dog Piper doesn’t make too many trips to the vet. But, alas, we had to visit the doc today to check up on a spot on her lower abdomen.
The doc said it didn’t seem serious, but he wanted to take some fluid from the area using a small syringe. Piper, the sweetest dog you will ever meet, didn’t take kindly to that idea.
After letting out the loudest (and saddest) yelp I’ve ever heard, this poor dog just wouldn’t let it happen again even after two more tries. So the doc gave her some anti-inflammatory medicine in hopes that it would help remedy the problem.
Understand that when Piper is herself, always in the best of moods, her ears stand straight up. As you can see below (and above, when she is at peace).
But when she’s scared, worried or stressed in the least bit (as in she thinks mom or dad is upset with her), the ears go back. Below is a photo of Piper in the waiting room at the vet, prior to her unfavorable reaction to the shot.
No, Piper. You haven’t been a bad dog. You’re a good dog.
